It’s an exciting time for PhD Nutrition as 2025 will kick off an entirely new line up of brand ambassadors, from hybrid athletes to qualified sports nutritionists.
The two brands sell through the phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online marketplaces including Amazon, as well as extensive domestic and international retail distribution.
In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time and most importantly, allowing Science In Sport to lead the way for quality standards.
Science In Sport is a Performance Solutions partner to globally recognised elite teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Saracens Rugby, British Triathlon, Aquatics GB, British Cycling, England Netball and Loughborough Sports. As well as being the Official Energy Gel Provider of RunThrough and the Official Nutrition Partner of Ultra X.
The Role
Purpose of the role is to maintain the premium brand for SiS and PhD at Science in Sport with ensuring the company’s policies, practices and plans are legal and ethical with selling outside of the UK & EU, supporting all exports, labelling requirements, artworks, regulations. You will work closely with Manufacturing, NPD, Supply Chain, Quality and Technical collaborating on achieving the shared goal of Science in Sport being the number one performance nutrition brand in the industry.

- Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

The Work - Your 4 most important responsibilities
- Support the business in ensuring raw material and finished product safety and compliance.
- Create and maintain accurate regulatory documentation
- Co-ordinate and complete relevant logistics compliance/market access paperwork.
- Provide advice and support to the business for any relevant regulatory or compliance matters.
Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering
- Support the business to ensure the product portfolio maintains a high level of accuracy and legality, in compliance with all/any relevant legislation, to minimise risks wherever possible. Including, but not limited to, product formulation reviews, specification and label creation, risk assessments and marketing material reviews.
- Assist in mapping market entry requirements for new and existing territories, as aligned to business priorities, by supporting with product registration, product dossiers, import permits and the like.
- Actively support the business with regards to logistics compliance, by competently co-ordinating and completing relevant export documentation, including Export Health Certificates, Certificates of Origin, EUR1, Certificates of Free Sale, Tariff Code (and where applicable, Meursing Code) Classification, Certificates of Analysis, and any other requirements as applicable.
- Provide critical business support with nutritional, regulatory and compliance queries from both internal and external partners, customers, and authorities.
- Support Supplier Quality Assurance, Supply Chain and Technical and Quality teams with raw material approvals and advising on relevant assurances and documentation to ensure the business maintains a high-quality and compliant supply chain.
Capability - the skills and behaviours required to do this job well
- Qualification in Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Science, Food Safety, or other related subject.
- 1-2 years minimum experience in UK and EU food regulations. Desirable experience with regards to sports nutrition, food supplements and fortified foods.
- Desirable experience or knowledge of regulations pertaining to wider territories i.e. USA, Canada, Australia, China and Middle East.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally to enable seamless collaboration with NPD, Sales, Brand, Marketing, SQA, QA etc
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interpret and relay complex legislative information to the wider business.
- Experience with logistics compliance and export/import processes and required documentation
- Ability to manage workload and adapt to changing business priorities and requirements.
Performance – how you will know you are doing a great job
- Overall risk to business minimised due to less non-compliances in relevant territories
- Improved understanding of compliance and market access requirements for priority territories by the wider business
- New and existing product development completed within designated timelines
Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a personal performance plan that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.
