The two brands sell through the Company's phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online sites, including Amazon, and extensive retail distribution in the UK and internationally.
In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time. And this allows Science in Sport to have the highest standards of quality.
Science in Sport is Performance Solutions partner to Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, Tottenham Hotspur, New York City and OGC Nice football clubs, in addition to being the Official Nutrition Partner to the Milwaukee Bucks, 2021 National Basketball Association Champions and in 2023, winner of the women’s marathon at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Gotytom Gebreslase.
The Role
The purpose of this role is to help contribute to the world class manufacturing facility by ensuring all aspects of cleaning meet food hygiene standards. As a Hygiene Operative you will be carrying out the consistent application of hygiene to make sure the areas are maintained to the agreed standards.

- Salary: up to £12.86 per hour
- Working Hours: 4 on 4 off 10 hour shifts

The work - Your 4 most important responsibilities
- Ensure all equipment and surfaces meet and exceed hygiene standards, in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Be proactive in identifying problems and solutions to maintain a high standard of hygiene across the business.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of hygiene activities, contributing to the traceability and transparency of our processes.
- Adhere to Health, Safety and Quality requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering
- Maintaining hygiene standards to the highest level and ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work instructions (WI) are followed correctly.
- Ensuring documentation and records are completed accurately, in line with processes, SOP’s and WI.
- Ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and regulations, to support audit compliance.
- Being proactive in identifying problems and solutions.
- Complying with Health & Safety and Quality requirements, to support a safe and contamination free work environment.

- Attention to Detail: Demonstrate a keen eye for detail in executing hygiene protocols, upholding cleanliness standards, and maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Time Management: Efficiently manage time to ensure that hygiene protocols are executed within specified timelines without compromising quality.
- Initiative: Take proactive measures to identify areas for improvement in hygiene practices.
- Adaptability: Work well in a dynamic manufacturing environment, adapting to evolving hygiene requirements and industry standards.

- Low number of hygiene-related incidents indicating a high level of compliance.
- Accurate and up-to-date documentation of all hygiene activities.
- Successful completion of internal and external audits with positive feedback.
- Efficient execution of hygiene protocols within specified timelines without compromising on quality, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a personal performance plan that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.
