PhD Nutrition is a premium, active-nutrition brand for the active lifestyle community wanting intelligent nutrition to help them achieve their goals. With over 20 years of research and development, our products are designed to maximise performance in and out of the gym. It’s an exciting time for PhD Nutrition as 2025 will kick off an entirely new line up of brand ambassadors, from hybrid athletes to qualified sports nutritionists.
The two brands sell through the phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online marketplaces including Amazon, as well as extensive domestic and international retail distribution.
In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time and most importantly, allowing Science In Sport to lead the way for quality standards.
Science In Sport is the nutrition partner to globally recognised elite teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Saracens Rugby, British Triathlon, Aquatics GB, British Cycling, England Netball and Loughborough Sports. As well as being the Official Energy Gel Provider of RunThrough and the Official Nutrition Partner of Ultra X.
The Role
This role will play a critical part in ensuring our customers receive exceptional service and timely delivery of orders, in addition to this you will be responsible for monitoring, tracking and reporting logistic costs. This role plays a critical part in helping the company optimize logistics spend and improve overall efficiency and visibility.

The work - Your 3 most important responsibilities
1. Ensure a smooth process of arranging collections and deliveries for all customers, with all relevant documentation to be provided.
You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the logistics of both inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring all customer deliveries and collections are arranged efficiently. Proper documentation, such as shipping manifests, invoices, and customs declarations, must be completed accurately and provided to customers or logistics partners to avoid delays.
2. Responsible for obtaining and managing quotes from logistics partners. Allocate these quotes to each individual order to provide a comprehensive and forward looking view of logistics cost.
You will be tasked with reaching out to various logistics partners to gather quotes for transportation services, considering cost, delivery time, and reliability. Once obtained, you will assign each quote to its corresponding order, ensuring that customers are fully informed about projected logistics costs and timelines.
3. Ensure the timely processing and verification of logistics related invoices from carriers. This involves cross-checking invoice details against original delivery quotes or contracts.
It is essential to process invoices from logistics carriers quickly and accurately. You must verify the charges against previously agreed quotes or contracts to ensure consistency, identifying and addressing any discrepancies to maintain budget accuracy and prevent overpayments.
Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering
- Provide weekly/monthly reporting on logistics costs and where they track with the budget.
You will need to create regular reports tracking logistics costs, comparing actual expenses with the planned budget. These reports help the business identify any cost overruns, assess the efficiency of logistics strategies, and ensure that expenses are aligned with financial goals. - Accountability for the booking of all collections and providing relevant information for customs.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all collections are booked with the correct logistics providers and for providing any necessary customs documentation. This includes ensuring all shipments meet international regulations, and all relevant customs paperwork is submitted in a timely manner to avoid delays at the border. - Responsible for problem solving alternative routes or carriers to hit delivery windows.
When unforeseen issues arise, such as transportation delays or capacity issues, you will need to quickly find alternative routes or carriers to ensure deliveries are made on time. This requires quick thinking and an understanding of logistics options to keep shipments on schedule

- Able to work as part of a team to be able to deliver orders within delivery windows and within a timely manner.
Collaboration with different teams such as sales, customer service, and warehousing is crucial for ensuring timely deliveries. By working together, you can resolve issues more effectively and ensure all orders are processed efficiently and within their required timeframes - Flexible approach to working to meet deadlines and support the team and wider business where needed.
You will need to adapt to shifting deadlines and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Whether it's handling unexpected delays, adjusting to new customer requirements, or providing backup support to colleagues, flexibility is key to helping the team meet its goals. - Comfortable communicating with different departments and external logistics companies.
Communication with both internal teams and external logistics providers is vital for the smooth execution of deliveries. You must be able to clearly convey information, whether it's scheduling updates, delivery issues, or cost negotiations, to ensure all parties are aligned and informed.
Performance – how you will know you are doing a great job
- Reviewing logistics solutions and ensuring we are using the most efficient company/routes.
By continuously assessing the performance of logistics providers and routes, you will ensure the most cost-effective and timely delivery solutions are utilised. Regular reviews help refine the logistics strategy and identify opportunities for improvement in terms of cost, efficiency, and service quality. - Hitting delivery windows – on time, in full.
You will be measured by your ability to consistently meet agreed delivery windows, ensuring that shipments arrive both on time and in full, as promised to customers. Achieving this ensures customer satisfaction and strengthens business reliability. - Report SLAs for deliveries meeting windows.
You will be expected to track and report on Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring that deliveries consistently meet established timeframes. Reporting on SLAs will help identify trends and areas for improvement, enabling better decision making regarding logistics strategies.
Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a personal performance plan that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.

- Working knowledge of logistics options, suppliers, and booking portal.
Having a solid understanding of the logistics options available, including various transportation modes (e.g. air, sea & road), and being proficient in using booking portals or software to manage these shipments will be crucial to your success. - Knowledge levels of international logistics and providers.
Experience with international shipping, customs regulations, and the different global logistics providers is highly valuable. A strong understanding of international logistics helps you navigate complex shipments and avoid potential delays. - Working knowledge of export documentation (Desirable).
Familiarity with export documentation such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, and export declarations will help you ensure that all shipments comply with international trade laws and regulations, streamlining the shipping process
