We have two highly regarded brands; SiS which combines world-class knowledge and scientific formulations to provide optimal performance solutions for endurance athletes, supplying over 320 professional teams worldwide. Brand ambassadors include former track cyclist Sir Chris Hoy.

PhD Nutrition is a premium active-nutrition brand targeting the active lifestyle community; fuelled by science our products help maximise performance, whether this is building strength, getting leaner, or everyday wellness. PhD brand ambassadors include leading strength and endurance athlete Ross Edgley.

The two brands sell through the Company's phd.com and scienceinsport.com digital platforms, third-party online sites, including Amazon, and extensive retail distribution in the UK and internationally.

In 2022 the company opened a state of the art 160,000 square foot manufacturing and logistics facility in Blackburn, Lancashire. Providing a significant advantage in product costs and customer response time. And this allows Science in Sport to have the highest standards of quality.

Science in Sport is Performance Solutions partner to Ineos Grenadiers cycling team, Tottenham Hotspur, New York City and OGC Nice football clubs, in addition to being the Official Nutrition Partner to the Milwaukee Bucks, 2021 National Basketball Association Champions and in 2023, winner of the women’s marathon at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, Gotytom Gebreslase.

The Role

At Science in Sport (SiS), we take pride in our commitment to excellence in the sports nutrition industry. The role of Hygiene Operative is fundamental to our mission of maintaining a world-class manufacturing facility, supporting a clean, contamination-free work environment.

By executing hygiene protocols, championing contamination prevention measures, and upholding the highest standards, you play a vital role in shaping the very essence of SiS. Your contributions as Hygiene Operative are not only integral to our operations, but also support our informed sport certification and maintain audit compliance.  

• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

• Working Hours: 35.1 hours per week, 10 hour days, 4 on 4 off shift basis, 6.00am - 4.00pm 

• Hourly Pay: £13.45 per hour

The Work - Your 4 most important responsibilities

• Execute and monitor sanitisation protocols in line with set timescales, to ensure all equipment and surfaces meet and exceed hygiene standards, in line with Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions
  

• Being proactive in identifying problems and solutions to maintain a high standard of hygiene across the business, working with various teams.

• Maintaining accurate and detailed records of hygiene activities, contributing to the traceability and transparency of our processes.

• Adhering to Health & Safety and Quality requirements to ensure a safe working environment.

Accountability – what you are responsible for delivering

• Maintaining hygiene standards to the highest level and ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI) are followed correctly, within the appropriate timescales.

• Documentation and records completed accurately, in line with processes, SOP’s and WI.

• Ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and regulations, to support audit compliance. 

• Being proactive in identifying problems and solutions.
  

• Complying with Health & Safety and Quality requirements, to support a safe and contamination free work environment.

• Attention to Detail: Demonstrate a keen eye for detail in executing hygiene protocols, upholding cleanliness standards, and maintaining accurate documentation and records.

• Low number of hygiene-related incidents and standard operating procedures being followed, indicating a high level of compliance.

• Accurate and up-to-date documentation of all hygiene activities, contributing to transparency and traceability during audits.

• Successful completion of internal and external audits with positive feedback, demonstrating adherence to industry standards and regulations.

• Efficient execution of hygiene protocols within specified timelines without compromising on quality, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
  

Specific metrics will be set when in role and will be reviewed and built upon regularly. Alongside this, you will be supported with a PDP that will enable you to continue improving your own performance and impact.

• Experience within a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or food production environment.

• Ability to perform hygiene tasks following Standard Operating Procedures with precision, consistency, and attention to detail. Ability to work without supervision and using own initiative, as well as working part of a team.

• A flexible approach to working and open mindset on learning new skills.

• Good communication and organisation skills, including time management.

• Ability to considers the customer’s needs when prioritising and allocating tasks in the team.
